THE CONTRAST

CONCEPT:

The competitive steakhouse landscape resulted in the closure of Smith & Wollensky Steak House, and the now empty riverfront space is to be utilized by Friends of the Chicago River.

INTERVENTION:

Sitting along the Chicago River and featuring contrasting glass and concrete materials, the new structure offers three distinct spaces, an exterior glass elevator, an interior concrete spiral staircase, and a glass green space filled with trees and foliage.
